MISSION OF THE FIREFIGHTING SERVICE:
- The security and rescue of the life and property of the citizens and the state, as well as the natural environment of the country from the dangers of fires, natural disasters and other disasters.
- The responsibility and operational planning of the suppression of all kinds of fires and the provision of all possible assistance for the rescue of persons and material goods, which are threatened by them.
- The organization, management and coordination of all involved firefighting and rescue forces, equipment and other means and includes actions that ensure timely detection, notification and intervention, in order to achieve immediate and effective response to fires and hazards, arising from them.
- The Fire Service, within the framework of its responsibilities, participates in the response to any emergency, caused in a period of peace or war and in cooperation with the competent Authorities and Services, contributing to the provision of civil protection.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE FIREFIGHTING SERVICE
The Fire Service, in order to fulfill its mission, exercises through its Services the following responsibilities :
- Dealing with the consequences of natural, technological and other disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, chemical - biological - radiological - nuclear (HBRP) threats, as well as rescuing people and material goods, which are endangered by them . For this purpose, utilizes the available scientific data and information, prepares, organizes and mobilizes the fire brigade, means and equipment and requests the assistance of other Authorities, Services and Bodies.
- Rescue and provide all possible assistance to persons whose lives and physical integrity are threatened or endangered by all kinds of accidents, such as aviation, traffic, work, falling into lakes or rivers, being trapped in elevators or other places and facilities; and inaccessible mountainous areas.
- Establish and control the implementation of fire protection legislation.
