Limassol, Cyprus, Nov. 8, 2024 - The Federation of European Fire Officers (FEU) is proud to announce the appointment of Karsten Homrighausen, Chief Fire Officer of the of Berliner Feuerwehr, as the first-ever Chief Fire Officer (CFO) member in the federation's history. The unanimous decision was made at the Council meeting in Limassol, Cyprus, on Nov. 8, 2024.

As a CFO member, Karsten Homrighausen joins the distinguished ranks of career chief officers responsible for the strategic leadership of municipal, provincial, regional or national fire departments. CFO membership, one of four types of FEU membership, allows individuals like Homrighausen to actively participate in the federation's activities and initiatives.

By virtue of this role, CFO members receive exclusive access to the FEU's internal website and knowledge management platform, facilitating the exchange of best practices and strategic insights across Europe. In addition, CFO members, when appointed as delegates by their respective associations or fire departments, are entitled to all the privileges of a delegate within the FEU.

Homrighausen's appointment not only highlights his exceptional leadership and contributions to fire and rescue services but also marks an important step in the FEU's mission to enhance collaboration and innovation within the industry.
