FEU signed MoU with OBA
A Memo of Understanding (MoU) to outline the understanding and responsibilities of the FEU and the Organización de Bomberos Americanos (OBA).
Green light for ODP pilot
The pilot Officer Development Program (ODP) can get started in March 2022. The FEU Council adopted the proposal in their meeting in Ghent last November and signed the contract with the Netherlands Institute for Public Safety from the Netherlands, who is responsible for the content program.
25 Years of FEU
In 2020 the FEU celebrated its 25th anniversary. Due to the COVID '19 pandemic, this could only be celebrated at the 50th Council meeting in Ghent/Belgium in November 2021. A great opportunity to catch up memories and honour those members who have made a special contribution to the FEU over the years with a Cross of Merit. One of them is mr. Göran Schnell (75), the first FEU president ever. He received a golden decoration.
Helsinki here we come!
In the FEU tradition, the Belgian host, Wim van Zele handed over the authentic FEU flag to Veli-Pekka Ihamaki from the Finish delegation. Helsinki is the location of the next FEU Council meeting at Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 June 2022. The reception will take place at Monday evening 13 June. Chris Addiers made Honorary member of FEU
Chris Addiers is made an honorary member of the Federation of EUropean fire officers. In 2020 Chris, former affiliated by the Brandweer zone Antwerpen, stepped down as president of the FEU. Due to the COVID‘19 pandemic, there was no opportunity to address it earlier. He was honoured for his commitment ‘beyond expectations’ to the FEU.
FEU Council adopted Business plan 2022-2026
Think big, start small. That is what the FEU drives to professionalise their Federation. “We have done this by first modernizing the constitution and re-establishing our goals”, said the president, Stephan Wevers. “The world around us is changing rapidly: climate, digital, social and international developments are creating new types of crises and complex social issues. In order to continue to anticipate these changes, we have taken a critical look at the course the Federation needs to take.
New date for INTERSCHUTZ: June 2022
The dates for INTERSCHUTZ have been changed, with the event now taking place from 20 to 25 June 2022. The decision to reschedule the world's leading trade fair fire, rescue, civil protection and safety/security was taken by Deutsche Messe after a process of thorough deliberation and intensive discussion with key market players.
Parlamentarische Anfrage „Schutz unserer Freiwilligen Feuerwehren“
Am 24. Februar 2021 brachten Abgeordnete zum Nationalrat eine parlamentarische Anfrage an den Bundesminister für Soziales, Gesundheit, Pflege und Konsumentenschutz – damals noch Rudolf Anschober – betreffend Schutz unserer Freiwilligen Feuerwehren ein. Die Anfrage wurde am 22. April 2021 durch den neuen Gesundheitsminister Dr. Wolfgang Mückstein beantwortet.

Every year, Danish Emergency Management Organization holds its traditional Annual General Meeting. The Annual General Meeting is the largest fire and rescue fair in Denmark and the Nordics and has for decades been a big draw patch with more than 1.000 visitors and 70 stands.
